Amani Center CBO is a youth-led community-based organization with main offices in Garsen town. The organization is registered under the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Services in Tana River County of Kenya, registration number TDD/GAR/CBO/7291 and was formed in 2016 with the aim of championing peace and development projects at grassroots level targeting minority and marginalized communities and groups. Since its inception, the organization has partnered with the communities, local and international organizations to implement projects that have significantly contributed to peace building in the county which in previous years
experienced inter-ethnic violence between farmers and pastoralists leading to one of the worst genocides in the history of Kenya. Tana River County is also prone to natural disasters such as the perennial floods and droughts which exacerbate poverty levels, affect agricultural production leading to food insecurity, violence, poor health all which heavily affects livelihoods, Amani Center has come up with approaches that emphasize grassroots solutions to grassroots problems and our biggest asset has been the Amani FM community radio which has been instrumental in providing valuable information and giving a voice to the masses.
